| Illinois jumps five spots in this week's AP Top 25 poll to #19. The Fighting Illini join six Big Ten teams in the poll, the others being Ohio State at #2, Wisconsin (#14), Indiana (#18), Michigan (#20), and Michigan State (#21). Illinois started off the week with a win at home over St. Bonaventure, 48-43. That was followed by another win at home against Coppin State, 80-63.
Ohio State stays put at #2 following a single game that resulted in an upset loss at then-13th ranked Kansas, 78-67.
Wisconsin holds steady at #14 after wins against UNLV, 62-51 and Green Bay, 70-42. Indiana enters the poll at #18 after a win against then-1st ranked Kentucky, 73-72. Michigan holds steady at #20 after a win against Oakland, 90-80.
Syracuse takes over the number one ranking following a week in which they first got a victory at home against Marshall, 62-56. After that came another win at home against George Washington, 85-50. Kentucky falls from the number one ranking with a loss to Indiana.
Joining the Big Ten teams as newcomers, Murray State also enters the Top 25 at #24, along with Vanderbilt at #25. Memphis drops out of the Top 25 this week with a win at Miami (FL), 71-54 and an upset loss at home to Murray State, 76-72. Gonzaga and Harvard also drop out this week.
